I would take that kenwood over any OEM blaupunkt VW offer but thats just me. But im biased as I have been involved in the highend aftermarket audio game for over 18 years.
Heres a photo from the kenwood scirocco demo car from the trade show last year.

It looked far far far better in person, I was trying to highlight the faults when i took the photos

Snoopy:
Looks ok in a Scirocco I must admit, not so sure sure in a Golf.
I, myself, will probably go for for an RNS 510 from OEM Retrofits.
Will contact you for advice before I make a final decision.

Does the kenwood come with a HD?

no hdd, which would be useful for others, but I have a iPod and iPhone so don't need it. I can see how that would put some off.
I think it will look better in a golf- as the fascia will be the same colour as the dash- not silver as in that photo
Just sold an S5 - previously mkV R32 DSG Metallic Grey with RNS 510 (thanks to MortyGT140)

Over £1k and no HD?? Thats very expensive for something that you then have to link to your ipod afterwards. The RNS510 is linked in and charges through the cable in the armrest.. whilst all tracks and info are on screen. tbh I am really struggling to see the advantages of and aftermarket system... unless it was coming in under the cost of OEM. :undecided:

Hmmm, interesting.
Back last year Pioneer launched the F9110BT that was supposedly going to be sold in VW dealers. I've not heard much about it since (unless it's sold overseas by VW dealers?)

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/pioneer-avic-f9110bt.html

Yepp overhere the lease co tried to talk me into the model you mentioned leasing it since the theft is a common daily issue with the RNS510.

To be frank it looks ghastly and not even close to the RNS510 so I did the wrong thing but stayed happy.....I ordered to lease the RNS510 and after 48 months I will have paid it twice (the other halve being insurance premium...I really kid you not )
F@ck It..its a GTI and supposed to look stunning in- and outside
I'LL BEAT YOU TO THE BBC STUDIO........

It really does look ghastly.

What does it offer? It does not have frequency tailering like the oem unit. What this OEM thing does is boost 5Khz and reduce the bass frequencies as you turn up the volume. (Its a saftey thing VW built in to stop numpties killing speakers and claiming off the warrenty) This makes it change the way it plays music so its crap basically. It does not have as low a powered continuous Watts built in amp so will be better at producing dynamic peaks tan the OEM, It has a flatter frequncy responce and also adjustable equaliser to help compensate for the oem speaker quality. It has much more upgrade ability pre-outs, pre-ins, video in and out, DAB add-on box ready etc etc the list goes on. The Iplop lead is simply a lead that plugs in the back of it and im sure if this was installed by a good audio dealer they could interface the MDI into it(i have not seen the wiring diagram for the MDI yet but im sure it will be easy adaption). Same with the oem reversing camera(I have looked into that one and not a problem). Full post code and iirc 3d mapping. etc etc Theres lots more on this than the blaupunkt oem unit.
The HDD do you guys ever use it with memory sticks and Iplops so easy to use?
There are also much cheaper aftermarket units available that do not have as much upgrade ability as this kenwood one.

Does not look too bad to me and each to their own and all that.
The Scirocco looks fantastic on the out side but is badly let down on the inside, for me it looks cheap and nasty with the airfix centre console
