Haven't used my heated seats for ages, not to sure whether they're on or I've had an accident

I have cloth seats and the heated seats are very quick to warm up.

Great in this weather, usually have to trun the setting down after a few miles.

+1, I love a warm bum these chilly days

I can't put my heated seats above 3 on my ED30, otherwise they are too hot! They are great when you come out of work on a chilly evening, getting you toasty until heating kicks in properley.

Is there perhaps a difference in how quickly the leather and cloth seat materials transfer the heat to your bottom?

The cloth seats after a couple of minutes are nice and warm, which is one of the reasons i didnt spec leather, too hot in summer too cold in winter !
my last gti and R where leather and i must say i prefer cloth for comfort issues, leather does look better, but cloth for me in the future

I remember with the mk4 the heating pads were different for leather and cloth, with the leather heating pads being more powerfull for just this reason.  The mk5 ones with leather are OK but no where near as powerfull as the mk4 ones.

+1 the cloth warms up quick and is more than warm enough, not too warm to be uncomfortable

Got leather seats in mine and they heat up in about 90 secs to a nice warm temperature.

Perfect.
