GTI MkVI Heated Seats Effectiveness?
« on: 29 January 2010, 09:17 »
Hi - I have a a GTI MK6 in Blue Graphite (awesome colour matched with 18" shadow monzas), vienna leather and heated seats of course.  My issue is that even on the highest seat heating setting, the seats don't heat up very quickly and don't seem to chuck out much heat at all, so it is only very subtle and not the burning sensation I got from my previous two BMWs.  Its been back to VW this week and they said it is "normal" with no fault showing on diagnostics, i.e. the Golf heated seats are quite slow to heat up and are'nt as hot as other VAG cars.

Is this the same experience for everyone else, or am I being fobbed off and there is a genuine fault there.

Cheers.

Well i can't vouch for the mk6 just yet, but im my mk4 R32 if i had them any higher than setting 3, it would become uncomfortable. Plus i'm not sure it does your sperm count good at top setting.

Yours doesn't sound right to me.

i've noticed this too, the warmth is a lot less than on my mk 5 gti which used to proper burn so maybe that's why they've turned down the heat a bit on the mk 6 as its no where near as hot!!

I posted that I thought mine were rubbish too, by the time you really notice the heat, the car has warmed up anyway, I would really advise people not to waste your money on the leather.

Your right, but the fact that the (Part) leather is not fantastic quality, very expensive at over £1800 and that heated seats which are not actually that good are included within the price, I was only advising people that I wouldn't waste your money if you were unsure if you should add them to your order.

But, I also understand that leather seats are important to a lot of people in a 25/30k car.

I have cloth seats and the heated seats are very quick to warm up.

Great in this weather, usually have to trun the setting down after a few miles.

Personally I find the level of heat on the highest setting to be fine - at least as warm as on my previous BMW, if not higher.

However, it does take a lot longer to get to that level, whereas the BMW heated seats got to top temperature fairly quickly. Also, with the BMW ones, you could vary the split between seat cushion and back and I had it more biased towards my back rather than seat and found that the heat got through a bit quicker. Shame that the VW one doesn't have that feature.

I find the level of heat good (3 is too high for me) and they warm up pretty quickly.
