Door pillar trim

Drivers side rear speaker stopped working last week,i traced the fault to a break in the wiring where the round/twisty block connector is on the door pillar.I've managed to repair the broken wire,but when i went to twist the block connector back on the piece that is attached to door pillar fell into the door pillar,ive now spent the last two hours trying to pull it back through,but have only succeeded in removing skin from my knuckles and having a mini nervous breakdown  :cry:
I've decided to try and source another from a breakers yard,but cant figure out how to remove the trim from the inside of the pillar.I've removed the screw at the top,but apart from sliding upwards an inch,the trim wont come off.Please,please,please can someone explain how i remove the inner trim from the door pillar without resorting to a crow bar. :sad: :sad:

Is this the white circular block that the door wiring loom screws into?

If so, I don't recall any screws being there, but get your head inside the car and have a look up at the back of it and there's a few clips that hold it in I do believe. I've removed these and refitted them several time with no problems.

Thats the fella,but its the trim i need to remove so i can get at the back of the door pillar to clip the circular piece back on.I've removed the section of trim at the top where the seat belt goe's through,but i cant figure out how to remove the main piece of pillar trim.

Ahhh, your car is 5dr so you're on about the B pillar trim, I thought you were on about the A pillar :sad:

I'm afraid I've only ever had 3dr Golfs (5 of them actually lol) so I can't help you :sad:

on my mk 4 that was a right pain to get off, lots of brute force, but no quite enough to break anything, as it quite often is with vw trim  :angry: i know the mini nervous breakdown you speak of, i think we all do! just be careful+ double check everywhere for hiden screws

 :smiley: :smiley: All sorted.For anyone attempting the same job in the future remove top screw in centre of trim then pull at the edges and not in the middle as i had tried.The trim hooks around the door rubbers and once you get one cormer moving it literally peels off.
