Help Please!

Building a project on a SMALL budget!! Have picked up a 96 3dr Mk3 SE with 1.8 ADZ engine for next to nothing. tis a little gutless!!  I have chance to get MK2 gti 16v engine (KR?) and box for v reasonable price. I want to drop this into the mk3. Will it go straight in? What will i need to mod? Take it I'll need the Mk2 loom, ECU, and exhaust? Will the pedals etc from the mk3 be ok? Clocks? Any tips on buying the 16v lump? Average prices - signs to look for etc

1st project guys so any help/input/digs appreciated

Thanks

I think the mk2 has a completly different fueling system, if you can get an abf will be easier and more powerful engine.

Not going to work without major work, your car is single point injection, KR is k jet so fuel system will be a nightmare plus the brakes will need uprating.

if you have a small budget, the 8v gti 2.0 will be alot cheaper and easier to fit.

Will the 2.0 8v slip in relatively easy then?

Yes but you will need a donor car really as you will need wiring lom and ecu plus brakes etc, also you will only gain 25bhp.

Might have rethink then!

May just MOT it fix the bare minimum and sell it and wait for a decent 16v spares or repair to do. More door 16v one went today for £460.

Anyone seen ones go any less?

Don't believe the hype, 16v is not much better than a 8v
