technicially speaking yes its a fail

really depends on your examiner on the day tho,

ive had worse pass

but ive also had less fail

all depends what side of bed your examiner got out of that day lol :rolleyes:

It should fail as it will let dirt/grit inside causing failure....I would change a.s.a.p my self

Steering components:-

Components enclosed by gaiters
Because dismantling is not permitted, it is accepted that visual examination of some components which are enclosed by protective gaiters will not be possible.

Method of inspection   
b. relative movement between sector shaft and drop arm
c. loose ball pin shanks
d. loose track rod end or drag link ends
e. weak or broken socket springs
f. excessive play in ball joints

Reason for rejection

no not fail aslong as there aint play in it they would only advise andyou would replace it in end due to it knackering joint
