vr6 exhaust

just a quick query, will a vr6 exhaust (de-cat, middle and back) fit my 96 8v gti??

It will need reducing down.

When I put a Powerflow cat-back on my old 8v, that was off a VR6 and didn't need a reducer but I'd say the best thing to do is measure your current pipe against the one you are wanting to put on  :smiley:.

the one i'm looking at buying is a magnex one but wont be able to measure until ive bought it :( thats why i thought id ask first before spending the cash to find out it wont fit and need to spend more

from the rear of the cat it will have a small connector pipe and if this is changed to the the correct size, any exhaust will fit (mine had a 16v/vr6 exhaust fitted by using an early 16v connector)

so will the connector pipe be on my car or is it something i will need to buy??

you'll need to buy...find a timax or bosal dealer and have a look in their book as this will show what's possible to use

cheers bradley, we use a local motor factors a lot thru work and i'm sure we've got an exhuast book so i'll have a look thru and see what they got, cheers

Going off memory I'm sure the 8v uses the same cat as the early 16v and it's that models short connector pipe you need to use the 16v/vr6 downpipe
