got a mrk3 8v gti with the 8 speaker setup. looking to fit a set of 6x9's in the rear which i've had lying around for a while. i've nae idea about what goes where and how to do it so if any of you could help me out it'd be spot on like.

got the cableing in to the rear and ready in place behind the unit. its a sony unit with 10 stack cd multichanger and the rear looms as shown below:







not sure if i connect into the 2 speakers already in the rear or find a place for em in the loom or what?

you would be better hooking up ur 6*9's to a seperate amp looks like you have amp out so that should do what you need to do if you go the amp route is the following:

make sure you have at least 4 gauge posative wire with inline fuse normally 30amps but this can vary depending on amplifier output(wattage) if u dont know what 4 gauge is go to halfords or similar and ask for a amp wiring kit in this pack you should find RCA cable pos and neg wire with terminals and your remote turn on lead

right here goes

run your posative wire down side of car into boot area.....

next will be to run your remote turn on lead, this is normally a blue or blue/white lead coming from the back of your head ubit basically it turns the amp on when you turn the stereo on!!

thirdly run ur rca cable from H/U to boot area aswell now when doing this you can use R.T.O.L and RCA down a different side of car to cut out interferance from the pos cable right ur nearly there

befopre you think wohay ground your amp to a bare metal surface, this is done by either connecting black or brown cable from amp to surface now i found in a mark 2 you can unscrew your seatbelt at the shoulder height and connect there this will make groundin ur amp  quite effective mind you do not overtighten the belt nut otherwise u will not be able to use it trust me!!!

now make sure all ur cables are plugged into H/U and posative cable connected to battery
before you connect posative lead to amp plug the RTOL in first so its not drawing juice from battery then plug in remaining cables to amp connect ur battery up and all is left is to tidy up and set ur amp up.

if u cant be arsed the best way to wire up your 6*9's is to use rear outputs as these give better quality whereas in my experience using front do not...hope this helps IM me if u get stuck

got a 100w alpine (2channel) which has been sitting in my garage for a while but missing the main speakers out cable. 

i'll def go the amp route now that i got some instructions..

found my amp but missing the main speaker cable. do any of you folks know of place to get? i got quoted 40 quid at the weekend just passed at a main audio shop which seems a bit excessive as i bought the amp for 100 quid.....

searched around ebay and such like with no luck for this cable. got in touch with alpine uk and got the part for a mere 14 quid. that a**hole in the shop was taking the p*ss at 40 quid!

found download setup instructions on the alpine site too  .

finally got some time to sort out the the amp and get the speakers in.

jasonpi, followed your instructions from start to finish and wahh hey everything works!!  nice one..

not sure if it's lacking a bit of power or ooomph tho...  not sure if this is the way i have set it up, or thats how it is meant to be. i'm thinking it seemed a bit beefier in my bro's mk3 and my old landcruiser.

anyone got any ideas what i should check..
i've messed around with the gain but not made much of a oomph change
the wiring is one of those wiring kits from hal_frauds.
anything to do with length of speaker cable? sorting this out once i know where i'm gona put the amp and any suggestions for that most welcome.. (i think i've another biger amp to come to power a sub. was going to leave the space where the first aid kit goes for that)

Check the cross over on the amp if it has one. you might have it set to high pass which means you wont get any bass notes. knock it down lower or flick it over to normal.
