I dont really understand some of what people say sometimes on here!

Dave brown this, dave brown that!

I worked closely with Dave over a 4 month period! I scoped over 12 different sets of calipers, discussing which brakes cost which amount, which brakes offer which performance! Alot of people seem to mention Dave brown to support there silly comments about brakes?

£120 discs?? My brakes run off a 350mm disc, and the discs cost me £100! So i would guess at 'Dave browns' rates, a set of 312mm discs, would cost no where near that! How much do 312 discs cost for the anni set up? I have seen them from local trade shops for £30-£40 a disc! So where £120 comes from i dont know!

Spacers- You do not need hubcentric spacers for anything under 8mm, so therefore a wheel spacer kit would cost you around £40

Calipers- ' you would be luck to get calipers for £300? If people actually went to daves house they would start to realise that comments like that are utter sh!te! And the reason i say that, is because dave had a set of Cupra R brakes, and he offered whole kit for £300. THATS THE WHOLE KIT, and thats a 4pot!! Not a single piston 'big brake upgrade'

I think people sometimes need to think about things before they say them! As sometimes, other people do know more than themselves on other areas! brakes are something i invested alot of time and money into! And i looked into for a very long time! So when people come out with comments like that it actually gets on my nerves!

People on forums know alot of different areas. yet alot of people seem to have this' I know more than you' approach! ' you cant tell me, i already know'

Why would you need to source calipers yourself when Dave has around 30 sets in his house?

If your wheels dont take a big brake set up , i say more fool you, choose a wheel that does, otherwise dont put off people who are looking at brakes by saying ' you'll need atleast £600 for them'

And patch if you disagree with what i say, thats your opinion! Im entitled to my own!

Ive also looked into this upgrade and pm'd DaveB him (as you seem to get pissy if anyone else mentions his name) on what kits he can supply and prices

I would pop up to his house for a chat and to see what he can offer but as he lives 200+miles away its a bit of a trek for a chat.

as for the brake discs costing £120 I was referring to the 325mm discs which cost £120

Seem to get pissy when anyone else mentions his name? Comments like that are pretty comical! I also rang Ian birch regarding a Throttle body coversion, supercharger conversion! That doesn;t bloody mean i know all there is too know just because i 'looked into that modification'

I get pissy when people mention Dave browns name, to back up naive, stupid , and some what silly statements!

I love the way you have just picked out the calipers off the forum with a nice high price tag? I typed in Porsche calipers on ebay and found a set for for £145 on the first page , you must have missed them!

Mate come on..... im 20 ffs and i can atleast handle a mature discussion! I'll tell you what mate! Call it truths, Forums are no longer for finding information, asking and getting and giving advice! No...... they are all about i know it all!

Yeah i do have a big brake set up. and yeah i did have fitted by someone who 'actually knows something about brakes' , and i can bet my bottom dollar mate i actually do know more on this subject than you!

I invest a lot of money into my car... (not that money is knowledge), and more than that, alot of time, not time fixing and modifying, thinking time,...researching time! So i take it personally, when someone who thinks just because they have a kudos on a forum, or a high number of posts, or a few mates who will back you up on here thinks hes a wizz kid, so fires back with childish comments to actually make himself feel better that the comment he just made, was utter turd!

Parts on the net mean absoloutely F.U.C.K all to me. If you want mate buy a 4pot set for £1200 from awesome gti, which again shows where people get this fear of big brake concversions from ,because companies like that charge stupid prices...... or you can buy a Garrett GT300 which will give you 1,000,000bhp off ebay for £3.49 with a £1.50 postage charge!

When you actually research into something, and learn an area which i have, come back and give me some stats and facts, because i can feed them to you all day long. Just because you can add prices together with a calculator does not mean you know about brakes!!!

So dont argue mate, as you will lose!

This is the last time im posting on this post, so you can reply with some smarmy, immature comment if you want! it might make your ego feel bigger than your brakes!

Jake to be fair,the original poster was asking about a 312mm set up.This set up gives the most oem feel regarding bite/pedal travel and master cylinder capabilities etc...for not much money.Once you start moving into 4/6pot territory you will suffer more pedal travel

312mm carriers can be found from £20 upwards,add some new discs and pads and he's looking at a minimum £140 312mm brake conversion.This is more than enough for a luke warm family hatch,obviously not everyone has the power you have to warrant such big brakes,

My advice to the op is,if you want to drive your car like it's a race car take it on the track and buy big brakes,if you participate in the odd bit of spirited driving then a 312mm set up will be fine for such little costs.
