From your experience of GTI's MK5&MK6 which model holds there value better 3dr or 5 dr ?

Ben

there was a thread over on the MK5 board about this and it seems the 5drs do hold their value slightly better. but this was only one persons research.

Schuey, I am getting offered £22,500 for 5 door Carbon Grey, DSG, Leather, DVD Sat Nav, Bluetooth, tyre indicator, cruise control, Monza shadows, front and rear sensors, rear parking camera, park assist and luxury pack. The car is immaculate save for one minor kerbing to the alloy which dealers don't care about. I would say that although there is a large waiting list for new that the bottom has dropped out of used. I have decided to keep mine and run it as a third car until things improve.

Dsg is what everyone wants FACT, 5 door much better to sell as so much more usable. 3 door manuals are not to good at all got to have the monza shadows on others wise might aswell have steel wheels. Carbon grey / black / steel grey all hugely diserable. Nav is a waste of money for resell leather is the one to go for.

Plenty out there (including me) that don't like Automatics/DSG and would never buy one.
Some prefer Autos/DSG but plenty don't.  (Around 50/50....ish)

You should know that if you're in the trade.

DSG's are the future, manual yes its a nice manual I have a manual revo'd gtd, but it would have to be dsg in the gti and of course in the golf r its a must. But hey some people just dont like it if you have not had the opportunity to have one for a while then you cant appreciate how good it is. Very few people when I test drive them in a dsg get long enough to drive it and because it so alien to them they save them selves they cant justify £1300 and stick with a manual.

Automatics have been around for decades. DSG is an excellent, efficient and fast automatic.

If autos are your thing.

Not my thing I'm afraid and never will be.

I can see the pros and cons for both but for me and many others we will never buy automatic no matter how fast it changes gear or how many clutches it has or how well the 'manual' mode works.

It just is not for some people.

That's why it's not the future - just an improvement on long existing technology.

Anyway let's not turn this into yet another manual v DSG thread - the original one was very, very long. Probably because opinion is so divided.

True ive used a DSG quite regular for the past 4 years i prefer the manual. Each to there own but DSG is not quite there yet for me.
