December Orders

Hi Guys,

I walked into my dealer on 31st Dec and bought a new Mk 6 GTi.  I have been given a delivery date of middle March, and have been advised I will be informed 4 weeks prior to the actual date.

The VW Business Manager told me that VW cut back on production last year in line with the recession and were caught out a bit when things ramped up.  He said VW seem to be on top of it now and mid-March should be doable.  What chance do you think??

I didnt see a thread for December orders so wondered if anyone else has bought and been given a provisional date?

I've ordered a white 5 door, DSG, RCD510, Rear View Camera, Side Airbags, Winter Pack and 18" Monzas.

NO CHANCE!!!!

I ordered mine on August 18th and was told mid December, then January, then Feburary, then happy days, back to January, then not so happy days, MARCH.

So tbh I think they have told you a load of old tosh

I ordered nearly the same car only difference being Carbon Grey.

I ordered last week of December and delivery date first week of April  :smiley:

I was told on my Monday that any build week I had wouldn't be reviewed until the February 'schedule' was in place.

What registration comes after 10 ....

I ordered mine from Arnold Clark a few days before you ordered as I remembered your post.
I have been told middle of April to May sometime. Ingram in Ayr have no slots left until March before they can take any new orders.
To be honest im not worried the wait will be well worth it. Driving on a twisty B road with some great sounds blasting out will be bliss.

I work for a very busy VW retailer in sales if you get your car in march I will eat my gti manual

Dealer is filling you full of sh!t just for you to get your order. Will be worth waiting for tho mate. We have had an r turn up today in the showroom looking unreal

Cheers guys (I think!).  I took it with a pinch of salt to be honest, and am quite happy to wait.  It will be interesting to see - dealer advised that they will notify me 4 weeks before delivery.  Some folks on here seem to know their build week - how do you find that out?

I'll post when I do eventually get it  :smiley:

Doesn't it depend on whereabouts in the queue the car is though?   e.g. if a dealer has an allocation which they haven't sold out of, you might be able to get a car with an earlier build week.

I got mine via the fleet dept and they seemed to be able to get me a reliable estimate on a car... it actually came a few days early!   :smiley:
