Kev: It would also look nice to have a bit of metal on the 'footrest' to the right of the accelerator pedal. What do you think?

Maybe, but personally I think that would be a bit too much down there. For me, the left footrest serves a purpose as it stops the carpety bit getting dirty and scuffed, your right foot never leaves the accellerator (unless you got cruise control) so as you say it would only be to look nice, but for me it would be a bit too much.
