insurance question

hopefully someone can answer my Q... i have a dr10 on my licence it was 5 years ago in december.. i no insurance companies only ask for the last 5 year but do i need to tell them about this as its a serious offence?? i no its on my licence 11 year but just curious to wether i need to tell them

you dont have to tell them due it being after 5 years, im led to believe the only reason its on your license for 11 years is so that if you get caught again its easier to tell if its a repeat offence but i cant confirm

Any DR offence over 5 years old should not attract any terms from an insurer, If they don;t ask for anything over 5 years old, there is no need to declare it.  :smiley:

you should really declare this type of conviction for up to 11 years.

It is true that it shouldn't change the price once it's over 5 years, but some companies will ask for history for longer.

An example as to why they might do this is be because if you only had one DR10 or something similar it's not a problem but if you were a serial offender with numerous convictions then you might be seen as too high risk for that underwriter and they wouldn't cover you.

So yes 100% declare it coz chances are it won't affect it at all but if they need to know about it, it won't come back and bite you in the ass at a later date  :smiley:
