^^^^ i dont know how many they sold in total but my point was that it was easy to pick up a brand new (this was in boom times aswell) from a few dealers. So maybe, just maybe they may have a few R's come in the country that Vw will sell.

you can be sure there will be several employees of VW at their headoffice ordering these and after six months jog them on. There are always some hard to find cars available but cost...

Somebody said that "his dad paid 1,700 quid for a MkI GTI back in 1975. A brand new Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 costs 14-15,00 quid in 1976. Now an equivalent which will be a Carrera 2S costs over 70,000 quid (basic) depending on how the car is specified.
I must say that the optional Recaro seats @ 3,ooo quid which is an option on the "R" just like it was on the R32. This has to be a joke. I don't if it costs the same if you have the same seat fitted aftermarket.

The Recaro option is by far the biggest rip-off ever. A pair of aftermarket leather/suede Recaro Sportlines will cost you between £2K-£3K, but VW are saving a set of standard seats, which should offset the cost (as it does with the 19" wheel option).

Shame, because Recaros are very good seats.

Oh come now...on the 5 door versions, you pay your £3485 and not only do you get a pair (oh yes, TWO!) Recaro seats, but VW kindly 'throw' in a part leather interior - with faux leather (vinyl) where you don't sit...heated front warming elements AND rear side Airbags.
I mean, that's a whole list of schizzle right there...not just a pair of seats.
And all for just £3485!

Uber bargain!

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.

Nice photo from the Evo website:

Notice how much darker (nicer) the blue looks than the Auto Express photos:

It's the same car, it's amazing how different they look in each photo!

I much prefer the black wheels on the rising blue than silver, just my 2p.

MKV GTI | Reflex Silver | 5-dr | Anthracite 17" | Manual | Highline MFD | Cruise | Revision 'D' DV | Dirty Pipes |

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?
