Would love a spin in this car, but f**k paying that price for it.

My thoughts exactly!

Does anyone know of a dealer who is getting one as a demo?
I don't...

Dealer can only order Golf R as customer orders!  No Demos as the is only 250 Golf R being brought to the UK.

^^^^ the S3 i test drove felt very laggy after jumping out off my ed30 (ko4) and then getting back into my ed30 it felt like a hoot to drive.

Had your ed30 been re-mapped when you did the S3 test drive?

is that a fact? Who told you/ where did you read that?
I'm not doubting you I just haven't read that?

If that's true I'm glad as it will give extra exclusivity/bragging rights

You call it bias, I call it talking sense. DSG is for f**kin taxi driving homo's.

Usual comment from a half wit.

My dealer said exactly the same. 500 R's in total for the first year.  No word after that though!  Hopefully VW will get the setup right and make it more exciting than both the GTI and the S3 to drive.  I can't wait to get my hands on mine - even though DSG is for homos
Golf R... 3 door, DSG, Leather, Reflex Silver, Black 19" Talladega Wheels, ACC, Parking Sensors, RNS510 with Dynaudio, Reverse Camera, Luxury Pack, Cruise Control & Fiscon Bluetooth.

^^^^ the S3 i test drove felt very laggy after jumping out off my ed30 (ko4) and then getting back into my ed30 it felt like a hoot to drive.

Is it lag - as in additional turbo lag?
Or lag, as in the s3 has to 'waste' more driving the drivetrain and then hauling it's 100+KG heavier ass up to speed?
It could be a function of both of the latter...

I remember Ed30s feeling really light and on their toes as they didn't have to lug about as much weight, nor lost as much through the transimssion...it almost felt like they came 'on boost' earlier?

i agree thats exactly how it felt, not to sure if boost came on earlier but i sort of guessed it was a combination of slightly earlier boost and the drivetrain. Thats what i loved about the mk5 R32 it made even a ko3 gti feel laggy even with all that extra weight and drivetrain
