I can only think the alloys are an old back log of stock. I wouldn't imagine the alloys are rep's but who know's with dealers these days.

It sounds like a great deal though (one which I never seem to stumble upon down my way ). What other alloys did they have out of interest. Did they have any 18" black detroit monza's for sale?

They were definitely reps as I asked the guy serving me.
Most of their alloys were certainly current. Monza's, Talladega, BBS rep Black, other Talladega but a slightly different shape to where the 3 spokes met the rim of the wheel.

and the photoshopped alloys on this look very risque for VW, but I like

They are from the R8 V10       Must be very expensive.  They come in the right size though as I want to fill my arches without lowering the car for now as it will be used as a family vehicle - the wife put up with the Bilstein PS9s in my Ed30 for 2 years, but if I put aftermarket suspension on the Mk6 as well...  8.5J and 235 width should just about fit with a small amount of arch rub at full lock I think.

These wheels really fill out the arches nicely and give the car a purposeful stance. They remind me of my 3-year-old's squashed and half-broken Hotwheels cars

I think those wheels are growing on me... they look great!! That first picture that shows off the sunroof is also a great shot. I do like them in Silver but a slightly off silver (darker) colour would possibly look good too.
