Revo vs GIAC vs Bluefin vs Custom Code
« on: 16 December 2009, 01:45 »
Been looking for a xmas present for myself in the form of a little remap, all offer similar sort of power increases I think and each have there advantages with location. ie I'm in the sticks north of aberdeen. Any suggestions?? I know the GIAC doesnt effect the ECU counter but what about the rest of them? Also got to think that maybe a switching between progs would be handy when i leave the motor in my old dears hands when i'm away abroad working. Help!!! I cant let a clio 172 cup be as quick!!

i've got bluefin on my ed30 and am well pleased with it. customer service was second to none, you can revert back to standard anytime you want, you can immobilise your car if you are leaving it for any length of time, and you dont have to go anywhere to have it fitted, postman brings it to you. not sure on this next statement, but another bluefin customer told me it also resets the flash counter everytime you use it. i've only heard good reports about the other remaps you've mentioned, horses for courses, sure you wont go far wrong with any of them. Let us know which one you go for.

As suggested, you pay your money and take your choice.
You may wish to consider whether you're likely to add complimentary modifications e.g exhaust, fuel pump, induction kit.
Stage2+ (using these bits) is available now and has been proven to offer significant gains over stage1/2 alone.

Revo gives loads of smiles with it's aggressive delivery but it's killed my standard clutch very quickly.  If i was choosing again I'd go for the less aggressive blu fin remap

Mine is revo stage2+  running 360bhp and my clutch has just started to slip.
Unfortunately it's the torque that wears the clutch, whilst the s/c and bluefin are a little less boosty it's a likely outcome sooner or later from most of them.

You can add MRC into the equation - the only true custom remap IMHO. www.mrctuning.com

could I ask, what are the possible damages of 360bhp on a mk5 DSG?  because its cheaper to get my hands on a 2 to 3year old used one to a brand new mk6! and I'm guessing this will surely need an upgrading of the fuel pump, ignition, injectors and straight through + de cat?

kindly guide me along and correct me if I'm wrong as I'm still acquiring my knowledge on euro cars! thanx!  :embarassed:

just a map with a hpfp and sports cat with less restrictive exhaust is all that's needed for around 340bhp
