yeah I came to much the same conclusion.  The hydroylic clutch sounded nice though, as did the 150bhp.  Engine swap would have been do'able, but a LOT of work.  Shame is that there are limited numbers of good, lower mileage 16v's arround. Few VR6's though.

You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.

Bloody hell, I was wondering if this swap / upgrade was worthwhile, but reading this makes me think that just selling my 8v AGG and buying a 16v would be much more cost effective....... And less hasstle.

And I like my 8v again since sorting the cutting out problem lol........ Better the devil you know!

A good bit of insight though.......

Why sell the 8v and make a backward step.

you can also fit ABA heads that was the standard 8v in the us+ they were crossflow similar to the mk4 8v
Not really sure there is any point though, reduced heat in intake but there is reduced flow so doesnt seem much point

ok - so a twist on this, how hard is it to convert from a cable to a hydraulic clutch?  I kinda suspect mine hasn't much longer to live - not slipping but its done 88k on a single clutch on a GTI.  (GL clutch died at 70k)

Loving the GF's hydraulic clutch on her Ford Fusion.
