revs staying up

hi when changing gear when accelerating hard the revs stay up for a few seconds before dropping does anyone know what this is as it getting on my nerve

and no its not a lazy clutch or accelerator pedal it does it with the clutch fully down and the foot fully off the throttle it just revs for a few seconds as if your foot is still pushing the accelerator when dipping the clutch

Clutch pedal switch, TB or vacuum leak. Any fault codes? what year is it?

your a star you have possibly confirmed it Clutch pedal switch i thin that was one of the fault codes

its an x reg 1.8t it also is not getting a reading from the first bank lambda sensor till you rev it hard then it goes right up and drops down to nothing again, is it due a new lambda and if so what lamda is it as there is 2 and a how much are they someone told me £50 but that seems a bit steep

sorry to sound dumb but its my first dub i have been into old school fords so all this technolgy is new to me lol

Get the car on a ramp and have alook at how many lamba sensors tehre are, the earlier models only have 1 lamba sensor which is just before the cat. £50 is about right, i paid about £60 for a genuine vw one a few months back.

what are you using to read what the o2 sensor is doing? bank 1 means either pre or post cat sensor (only one bank on 1.8t) .. pikey way to tell which one it is - unplug each one in turn and see which one throws a DTC/stops responding

mine does this aswell, it's really annoying! Where abouts is the switch in relation to the clutch pedal?

(i'm on crutchesbtw not just being a lazy tw@t  :grin:)

i have not actually looked yet as i have lent the car to my pals girlfriend due to some one driving into her old car
