I've never been tempted to 'chip' but seems best to not bother until the manufacturer's warranty is out of date.

the warranty offered by superchips should be taken with a pinch of salt..

it will be very difficult for you to prove that any issues that may arise has been caused by the remap or another contributing factor, and i bet my ed30 that superchips will not be very supportive if a claim does arise

if you lease your car then I would also stay well clear of any remaps - firstly you are going against the lease agreement and also as one of our Seat cousins found out if you do have a problem you will not be covered under warranty and the company which leases the vehicle will demand full payment for the car as well as a costly repair bill...

i have recently had issues regarding a faulty dsg mechatronic unit which is quite common among 07-08 dsg cars and results in a jerky gear box I attempted to get this repaired under warranty with the car been only 2 years old but due to the engine remap along with a few other mods I have been informed I am no longer covered under warranty...  £2k bill for a new dsg mech unit !!

It's a shame that VW doesn't take advantage of the tuning part of the business.
I remember they used to offer lower suspension and rear silencer in the past???

Both Merc (AMG), BMW and Porsche Tequipment offer lots of goodies for their customer who want their car to look and perform a bit different from their peers!

I guess if they were selling thousand quid 'chips', they'd have less demand for cars like the 'R'  -  as far as they are concerned, you buy the Gti or the 'R' (on which, I assume, they make a better profit than they get when a Gti is sold)  -  makes business sense.

Just go the pdf emailed through to me... im convinced enough to order i think. Just going to see if I can find myself a forum discount
If it works well with DSG I'm in.
It does, but insure they supply you with the DSG version map and not the Manual map, as they are two different types, and ive had the pleasure of the wrong map to start with!!!. I had horendous gear change throttle responce issues!!!. Correct map is superb!.
They do a more aggressive map or a toned down torque map aswell if you find it too balistic. They will change your map F.O.C if its not to your liking.

I wouldn't have told 'em about the remap.  Mine never goes to a VW garage without the original map.

the warranty offered by superchips should be taken with a pinch of salt..

Salt principle applies to all remap warranties. A good remap will never create problems, but always highlight existing ones or weak components that may have been defective from the factory. The methods and technology are tried and tested, nothing is strained beyond safe margins and that's exactly why some dealers offer ECU remaps - they can always point the fault back to something that should be covered by the vw warranty.

If your dealer didn't supply the ECU remap, then you'll be fighting against them.. rather than with them, for any warranty claims. Choose your tuner wisely, a VW specialist will generally have more of a clue if you run into any problems than some fella that flashes a file to a car without even lifting the bonnet in the dealership car park.

had bluefin on my ed30 for nearly 3 years, its fantastic, super quick, super smooth. I've had no problems with them either, always found them to have very good customer service, and no, i dont have anything to do with them, just saying as i find them. i dont doubt that revo are also very good, dont really see the need to slag them off because i have a different map, its just that i find bluefin more to my liking, its so easy to revert back to standard for a visit to the stealers, and it's supposed to reset the flash counter so it cant be seen how many times its been flashed. not sure how true that one is though. pay your price and make your choice.
