snoooooreeeeee!!! Come one James, it's getting dull, what are you ordering? We don't really care if it's official or not, just spill the spec so we can then debate for a week what you should and shouldn't change.

OK:
3-door (would have had 5-dr if was ok with side rear seat airbags but I'm worried by critics' analysis on dangers of airbags injuring children) - 3-dr should be tougher body shell than 5 but each and every accident will affect a car differently so all my thinking on the subject is probably pointless - G-d Forbid it's ever a necessary concern!

Service plan

Manual - more me than DSG

pearlescent black - considered white but I think it might look worse when only a bit dirty than black will look but probably not much in it - might be too many whites around when I sell the car - might affect resale values though there'll be loads of p black around, too.
Considered red but isn't metallic/pearl essential for resale values. Also considered carbon grey - I like p black and just think it's the safer bet for resale values.

RCD 510 with Dynaudio

DAB radio

Elec sunroof

Front & rear parking sensors

18'' Monza Shadows

Winter pack

Cruise control

Lux pack

Flat tyre indicator

Tourist safety pack

Sport chrome strip rear

Boot sill protector - transparent

VW Touch Phone (works with iphone)

Flexible load liner

Door sill trims (transparent)

not bothering with mud guards - I don't think my driving calls for them

ACC pointless for me

Sat Nav not worth the money (to me) - can spend £60 and get it on iphone or buy Tom Tom hardware

besides colour uncertainty, only thing bothering me is that sticking with cloth - I just think it hugs the driver's back better than leather, I think the leather removes the character which the cloth brings to the car and I think the cloth will age better than the leather - I also don't have the patience to look after the leather as I believe one must - cloth doesn't need the attention.

That's it.

BTW - absolutely no disrespect intended towards anyone whose thinking on the car runs counter to mine! - one thing on which we're all agreed, it's all so personal.

Wey Hey, at last James

You will no doubt agonise over other options as the weeks go by but that seems to be natural.

Like you say it is oh so personal and what suits you won't suit others. I like both the white and the black but I have found on my DBP, I can wash it and then by overnight it actually looks dirty due to the rain!! Its hard work keeping it clean but worth it. I can't remember my white XR2 being like this but then it was 20 years ago

Bout time too! nice spec as long as your up for cleanin your car frequently, agree with p3asa it looks lovely when you've taken the time to clean and wax it but unfortunately it doesn't last long!
The only thing i think you'll regret is the chrome strip, IMHO it'll do nothing for the gti as it'll be the only bit of chrome on it and serves no additional purpose.
Just my two peneth and congratulations!
