Yeah i too got one of those resistors but never fitted it. Colour matches perfectly though.

I too cut my std vent and fitted the gauge accordingly

That looks like a good job well done, i do prefer that over the steering column mounted ones as i imagine they get in the way of viewing the clocks.

Do you live near me i could let you do mine  :laugh:
