what engine's are good to go in a mk1 1.8 golf convertible? Engine's just gone on me baby and plan was to just chuck a 1.6/1.8 lump in it.
But i seen this good condition low mileage 1.6 GTI down the scrap yard today. Whats gonna be involved in putting that engine instead of a 1.6/1.8?
Gonna have to find out soon cause stuff down their dont stay long - only stays their a few days and been their since friday. any idea what kind of bhp that engine puts out? Probably similar to a standard 1.8 i'd guess.
I forgot to look - will it be fuel injection or carbs? Gonna need the fuel tank/pump and fuel lines from it if it's injection.
cheers sam

nice easy engine to put in would be ideal.
how about a GTI engine bigger than a 1.6? Am I looking at a lot of work for that?
Just this 1.6 is here - convenient like

The 1.6GTI is injection and puts out 110bhp, not bad in a light car.
