Edition30 DSG problem
« on: 06 November 2009, 07:40 »
I have an 58 Edition30 and when i slow down @ a roundabout or junction then press slightly on the accelerator nothing happens, il leave my foot in the same position then all of a sudden it will fly off. I know there are some issues with Mechatronic unit's but mine is not lurching forward or backward!! My safety was compromised yesterday pulled out of JCT and nothing happened for few seconds , the other car had to slow down and flashed me  My car only does this once in a blue moon??? Any support guys thanks Steve30.

Must admit the first thought I had was 'mechatronic' but it doesn't seem the same as the issue I had.

Honestly - just get it seen to pronto! That's the only advice I have, sorry.

Not sure if this is related but have a look at the following link (item 4 in the list) for some info on loss of transmission in DSG Golfs manufactured between Sep 2008 and Aug 2009:

didn't realise you'd already had it in to the stealer - sorry.

intermittent faults. hmmm. the most difficult to investigate.

i think the only way to play it is to get a bit hard on the dealers. you're not making this up and the last thing you'd want is to have your beloved GTi in the service department for a couple of weeks! I'd insist on them taking it off you until they find the issue. it sounds like a really serious issue - and pulling on to roundabouts and finding nothing happening is scary.

Ask your dealer or any other VW dealer if they know anything about the problem that I linked to.  It appears that there is a recall for affected cars.

I guess you would have heard if yours is one of them.  Looking for further info on the Internet reveals that:

"a faulty temperature sensor could light up a warning light in the instrument panel, and in rare cases, the transmission could shift into neutral"

Sounds dodgy to me!

I've got DSG but my car is 57 plate.  Not had any problems with mine...yet!

Isn't there a weird issue with engine power cutting out whilst pulling out/accelerating whilst turning. I've had it a couple times where it loses all power and just goes nowhere

Could it could be the "fly by wire" accelerator in the Golf.

I have seen a few threads about these going faulty where the car seems to lose power and "cut out" for a few seconds.  Most reports say this is a once in blue moon experience

Does it feel like the DSG is trying to find a gear (i.e changing from 2 to 1 just as you press the go pedal ?)   or does it feel like there is just no response from the accelerator ?
