an update for you ladies and gentlemen
because of an unfortunate death in the family, i had to go abroad
the car had not arrived onshore yet, but was pretty close, but i explained my situation to the dealer and he was understanding in this respect and offered to keep the car until i got back.
i haven't actually asked precise details but i believe my car arrived in the UK sometime the week beginning 22nd March. the dealer has even offered to take my old car part-ex at the last minute, unfortunately the private buyer of the old car who seemed keen on buying the car in September last year seemed a lot less keen to buy it when i gave them a new asking price.
it was arranged through a friend of the family and somehow the buyers had totally got the wrong end of the stick on the price, and recently when i talked to the buyer directly they were "why has the price gone up?" erm no it hasn't gone up you just made up some crazy low price! because they were friends of my family and I wanted to be nice to them i even offered to sell the car less than the part-ex price, and to drive it to their house. yes i know you might be thinking i'm mad, and i probably am, but apparently even that is too much for them. anyway i've not heard from them so i guess i'm part-exing it now.
although i'll not be very pleased to see a big wad of my hard earned notes get eaten, nor will i be happy to see my trusty old car go as part-ex (it was a reliable little motor, i would have probably kept it for many more years had it not been the decision to get the new one), i'm super-looking forward to getting the new car. i've arranged to pick it up next week with the dealer.
it's been a bit of a surreal journey, with all the waiting and all that, and the other things going on in my life, but i hope i'll get to enjoy the new car as much as fellow members of this forum. as is the custom on this forum i will try and take some photos when i get the new car.
