Last time I asked [~ 2weeks back] any delay was due to 'multi-function steering wheels' - but we've heard that before.

I'm kind of in the Snoopy-esque resigned to whatever will happen situation right now.

Can I be added to the list please? 5dr Carbon Grey manual ordered on 23rd Feb. At the moment they are estimating end of September, but obvioulsy nothing confirmed yet

Interesting to note for your list above that the manuals seem to be confirmed and the DSG's unconfirmed in about 90% of cases

Hello James,
I ordered my GTI, January 10. Got BW 14 first, then BW 9.
Delivery will be next week on tuesday, march 30.

Just off the phone to my dealer again... still no change... I'm most unhappy........

I was told there is a delay on RNS-310s if anyone has ordered one of those, but not me, so its not that, that is holding mine up. I've asked them to find out exactly what part it is that is delaying my car, and they are going to come back to me within about 48 hours with that info so I can see if removing an option might speed things up. But I'm not holding my breath.

I was told however about the 20 week = hire car thing (offered the information rather than asking about it) and it was suggested that process was instigated when 20 weeks is reached.

My spec, again, is >

GTi 5dr DSG	One of those delivered in my order month and two unconfirmed earlier than mine
Shadow Blue	I'd consider a colour change?
Winter Pack	A pretty regularly taken option I'm lead to believe
Parking Sensors	Again, quite regular
RCD510 with Dynaudio	Less regular, but no indications this might be a hold up?
DAB Radio	Starting to tend on the rarer side, could it be this?

Any ideas? Has anyone with a long delay tried arguing for some freebies and had any luck?

My spec is very similar to yours minus parking sensors plus lux pack and the colour is different!

I managed to get the 'servicing pack' credited on my invoice...

Picking my car on Saturday some 21 weeks after ordering (appreciate some have had it far worse than me!)...

Hi B3n,

Glad to see you got something for free. I'll wait to hear what bit is holding my car up and then start to push for something. But its a bit more difficult for me, since its a company/leasehire car, so I don't want to get a free servicing pack and save someone else some money! My thoughts in my head at the moment are along the lines of "so if the car takes 22 weeks, and I get a hirecar provided by VW for 2 weeks, thats worth about x quid, i wonder if thats enough to get me some free 18" alloys?"... I don't think its going to work!

If it was because of faulty steering wheels why is it not stopping the production of other cars. Can't believe what salesmen get away with.
For sure it's dealer allotments. If you bought your car from a small independent dealer the chances are your going to wait. Only write that because I went along to one but could not take my order as he had no allotments for three month.
So went along to a dealership with many VW garages through out the uk and my order is on delivery for 19th April at the garage for pick up.

I don't think the steering wheels were faulty, just a shortage. I've heard this from a LOT of places, so I'm inclined to believe it. Plus, it's only the multifunction steering wheel that was in short supply and since that's a standard part on the GTi, all GTi's were held up. I'm not sure if its the same wheel with just a different badge in the GTD though....

As for allocations, my car is coming from Ridgeway, I thought they were reasonably large, maybe I'm wrong?
