Hurrah!!!! Called my dealer for an update, he got my file out and confirmed the car BW had been confirmed to BW10. Delivery is expected late march \ first week April!!! wahoooooooo!!!!!!! Updated my entry...

I don't want to p1ss on your parade - but according to my dealer mine was confirmed BW10, then BW09 and now BW10 again.  BW's aren't really confirmed until about 2 weeks before - so don't hold your breath!
You'll probably find BW07's are being confirmed about now.

What i was told by someone at VWcs (not the phone answeres), it may help some of you guys work out when yours maybe getting confirmed by the factory.
Week starting 18th Jan, on the Tuesday and Thursdays, with the computer update, Build week 6 cars were confirmed and a few of the Build week 7 cars.
Week starting 25th Jan, on the tue & thurs, Build week 7 cars were confirmed.
and so on and so on.

So unless your cars a build week 8 or a luckie early build week 9, i would not put money on it been confirmed/locked just yet.

So basically the dealer is feeding me bullsh!t about the BW being confirmed?? I even asked if this means it's locked in and wont be delayed again etc. was told yes.

Doh... should have recalled that I was talking to a car dealer.

How many people  have tried something like webuyanycar.com etc? Seems to be a little more on their web site  than what you get from a dealer for a partx

Was going to try for a private sale, but just worried about somneone turning up with no insurance \ testing the car or etc (also not sure howmuch extra I'd get for a private sale (seems to only be about an extra 1k or so).

webuyanycar. They do offer a good price on the net BUT when you turn up at there locations they go over the car with a fine toothcomb and anything they can use to knock the price they quoted down they will.

true, would have expected that, guess they think that they're on site with you, your car and cash ready to go and the knowledge that you want a quick sale so..... can't blame them. Guess need to be honest on their site re the condition of your car before they attend.

For me would be a case of if greater offer than dealer then cool let's do it, if not then bye-bye.

what's everyone's thoughts about if the prices will drop much when traded-in during late March (i.e new reg and guessing plenty of cars about following people trading in their cars)?

Talking about We Buy Any Car...back when I ordered my new Golf, they were offering £7300 for my car, dealers offered £7500, so figured I would maybe get more on a private sale, but couldnt be bothered...anyway, sent an email to the dealers asking for some freebies the other day (if you dont ask you dont get), to be told that all the discount/freebies available were in my trade in valuation and they were holding the price they first quoted even though I`m still driving it. OK I thought, I`ll go see what WBAC are offering now....£6100  :shocked:
Think I`ll stick with the trade in as offered, and think myself lucky.  :rolleyes:

Just got this from my lease company :-

"Please note that the estimated delivery date for your vehicle has slipped form 31/03/10 to 26/04/10 this is because there are delays with the GTi/GTD production and issues the manufacturers are facing with the malfunctioning steering wheels."

Anyone know of any problems with the steering wheels? I'm guessing thats a typo in the email I got that says "malfunctioning" but maybe means "multifunction"?

I have made some adjustments to my order, dealer said will not effect build week.
Pearl Black
Xenon lights
Added Sunroof
Added Folding Wing Mirrors
501 music unit with Dynaudio Speakers.
Cancelled Monza Shadow Alloys for Standard wheels as I am going to buy a set of BBS Alloys now.
Next dilemma is choosing the right tyers ? Normally I go for Michelin but im now not sure. Living in central Scotland a tyre that is good in the wet is important. Any recommendations out there.
