Difference between 9A and KR rods & pistons
« on: 01 November 2009, 20:32 »
I know the 9A is 2ltr and KR is 1800. BUT, could I swap my KR rods for 9A ones to shorten stroke, to increase cc's?

Doesnt work like that Im afraid. If they are shorter (no idea if they are but Id be surprised) you would just end up with a really low compression engine . What you need to get what I think your after is a longer throw crank with shorter rods.

rods are same length 144mm,   the differance to take account of the diffrent throw in cranckshafts was done by changing the compression hight of the piston
all the VW's have gone bar 1.
