I think its much better designed. Meaning you can choose when you want them on as its not rocket science.

Keys out the ignition, quick flash (only once on mine) and as soon as you open the door the lights come on.

Then Q "hey mate you've left your lights on "

I called the salesman again today... and told him to add the Lux Pack to my spec.  He said - OK, that'll be another £120 then.
I said - Surely you can make that a round number... and he said I suppose so!
Wow - another £20 discount

He then said he'd get my order faxed off now since I know what I want.

Edge of the seat for the next few weeks until I hear back if its been confirmed.  Once that happens I can order my Fiscon Bluetooth Plus kit, then sit and wait for another 4 months!!!

I note my MFD thinks I've got coming-home lights.  I've never seen them come on, but I'd forgotten that bit about having to flash in order for it to actually happen.  I haven't parked in the dark anywhere since I got the car, and as I said, my garage is well lit.  I'll have to remember next time it's my turn for choir car-share 'cos there aren't any street lights in Carlops and the village car park is as black as the Earl of Hell's waistcoat.

I do have leaving-home lights, they come on when I use the remote unlock.

I've no idea what VW told your dealer, but I think I've got the lot with the lux pack.  I don't think the MFD would allow me to choose the time-on for my coming-home lighting function if it didn't actually do it.

Never felt the need for using come home or leaving home lights.

So I guess its a good idea to have the choice of the coming home lights or not.  Personally I find the puddle lights are really good for providing some extra lighting.

Still slightly annoying that there is no remote option for the folding mirrors.  Ah well there are bigger things in life to worry about.

I've found my puddle lights useless but now I think about it, its probably because they are drowned out by the headlights.

Just to confirm (as I think others have).

Tried the "flick the lights" immediately after switching off the engine tonight, and the lights obediently came on when I opened the door.  Works a treat.  Will use in dark car parks now it's nearly winter.

Lux pack definitely retains the facility.

Thanks for checking.
It seemed such a bizzare story from the dealer that I couldn't see why he'd make it up!
I just couldn't figure out how having folding mirrors would remove something that was standard with the car.

Well, it's an ill wind....

I hadn't really investigated the coming/leaving home options, and this prompted me to do that.  I'm going to lengthen the time on for both, so that I can turn the lights on from across the car park and they'll still be on when I get there, also for parking in dark car parks in the evening.  The car park we have to use for choir practice is very dark, and there are puddles, and the entire village is a street-light-free zone.  I keep forgetting my torch.  If I reverse into a parking space, I shouldn't actually need the torch!
