The sound was coming through the 6x9's so I unplugged both of them and the crackling 'bitty' sound went to the sub.
My 6x9's run off an amp and so does my sub, so ive got power cables from the battery individually powering each amp.
Thanks for the reply! im going to keep unplugging things and see if i can eliminate it!
When i eventually get the time and this is still happening, do you recon it would be useful for me to replace all the cables? I just have a feeling that somethings shorting but i havnt got a clue where, so im guessing the best thing to do is to just take it all out and start again? Just to see if the problems eliminated?
and the sub was not making any unusual noises?
do you have your sub low passed? they shouldn't ever make crackling noises really, the filter should stop it.
It sounds like its something to do with the HU to me.
Try unplugging the RCA's from the HU end but still connected to the amp..
if it still does it then its not the HU
if it doesn't then it is.
try unplugging the RCA's from the amp end but still connected to the HU...
if it still does it then its not the HU or the RCA's
turn off your HU before unplugging and reconnecting the RCA's though.
It seems strange that the noise went when you unplugged the 6x9's. Are you sure the noise was not just quieter through the sub, so when you disconnected the 6x9s it became more obvious that the sub was doing it too?
