Which petrol for MK4 1.8 20vt, APR remap stage 1 done @ Awesome

As has been said , the APR remap is done for 95 , 98 and 99 ron fuels
If it has the 95 ron fuel map , the higher ron fuel will just give it a tad more ooomph
So treat her and give her some V-Power

When i was at Awesome the other night getting my trial map they were very specific about which fuel i'm using as to which map they put on my car so worth asking them imo..

I've ran V Power for a bit now and not getting better mpg at all. About 10-15 miles less per £20.

Seems to perform fine though, boosts a little harder I think... but could be down to the cool air we've now got?

What MPG are you getting?
If you cannot find what APR map is on your car, then the best way to find out which is the best fuel to use is log the timing via vagcom on 95ron then on v-power to see how much correction is being added to the happy shopper fuel, if there is a lot of correction / ignition pull going on then you mapped for 97+

Its always good to run on a higher rated fuel even if your running a 95 ron map.

I do 90% town driving mate, I have to admit times are hard and I very rarely boost about (tis a 1999 model, ko3 turbo) so I'm getting 28/29mpg average (worked it out myself) on 95 ron fuel, yet to really work the 99 ron stuff out as tried not use car much lately with xmas looming etc.

Heard good things about your place and you're not too far away, may have to nip up one day! I've not got a laptop or access to one with vagcom on but could do with someone local who knows their stuff maybe hooking theirs up and coming for a drive with me so I can see how it's boosting and all that kinda stuff too aswell as logging things like you mentioned, would be good to know.

Hopefully I'll be able to get a laptop & cable early next year and start learning a bit about these VAGmobiles coming from Vauxhalls which were cheap and simple haha!

Vauxhall is where I started tuning after a stint with Ford, C20XE & C20LET cheap and fun to tuned.

Thats low MPG, there could be an underlaying issue under the bonnet, the most common issue for low mpg is a boost leak and the main culprit is the rubber link pipe from the turbo outlet to the pancake pipe.  If you want to pop over I will take a quick look for you, just bring some mince pies with you.
