Xennon DRL Pic?
« on: 26 October 2009, 08:23 »
Can anyone with Xennons tell me or better still post a pic of what part of the lamp unit is the DRL?

I'm not a masive fan of the standard lights in looks, and the yellow DRL's look bad. However they are a grand cheaper, but just wondering what the DRL's look like on Xennon equipped cars?

It's the main beam.  The light switch in the car seams pretty pointless to me as its positions are;

1. Off - Main beam & rear lights on (DRL), instrument lights off (expect for the needles which are red all the time)
2. Auto - DRL on, then when it gets dark the instrument lights turn on!
3. Side lights - Why?
4. On - Main/DRL on along with instrument lights.

With the auto option & DRLs what else is required?

Because not everyone likes autolights. The amount of times i have seen on my commute cars go under an underpass and there lights come on because there in auto and then go back off and other cars in the inside lane move over into that cars lane beacuse they think they have been flashed to move over and let people out of the slip road then you hear sudden braking and near accidents.

I was gonna ask the same. Can they be changed to LEDs? I read somewhere on here before that it might cause faults on the computer. Is this the same for number plate lights?

I changed mine to Philips Blue Vision, which aren't blue at all.....much nicer.

I also did the main lamp and everyone asks if they are Xenons.

The 3rd picture down are what is on on mine if light switch is off or in auto mode, if you turn the switch to sidelights just the small triangle light is on, so if you dont want Drls on just switch to sidelights,thats the way dealer set up, dont know if all the same ? different set up without xenons i think :wink:
