Hi, well if anybody knows this country of mine, you'll find out how Fu(ked up it is. The only country in the entire world with a thing called COE [Certificate Of Entitlement] and ERP [Electronic Road Pricing] despite already having paying a high price to Road Tax, which I find stupid as they base the price depending on the CC of the car. Apart from the Registration and Admin fees incurred to book a car, they also charge 105% Tax for every car that arrives here, regardless of Brand, Make and Model.

Just a little insider, you guys pay like what? . . . $25000 Pounds for you GTI VI there right?
Here, the GTI VI cost $130000 Singapore Dollars. (price fluctuates $2000 to $5000 weekly)
Which, if you do the conversion, will cost $57000 Pounds.

What car can you buy for $57000 Pounds?

I'm 24 years old now. And I own a Honda Jazz since I was 22 years old. Did full NA mods to full Turbo, and now back to bone stock again

I plan to buy the GTI VI next year, but looking at the prices here, with the fluctuating rates, and my financial status, I'm not so sure whether I can own it or not. Maybe a 2nd hand MK V, but still, my heart tells me that the GTI VI has better balls!

Your house is cheaper than a Golf?

When I went to pick up my Golf, I was quite disconcerted to realise it was costing me £350 more than my first house (a one-bedroom flat).

I meant buy a cheap car AND buy a house. There'll always be time to get a nice car.
Over the years I've upgraded from the 1.2 Nova to various  "nice" cars (I got my first GTi - a MK3 - at 27) but I know for a fact if I hadn't bought that (or other) cars I could have bought a bigger house earlier than I did or be in a more expensive one now. However, I got to the point where there was a compromise situation for my level of income i.e. a relatively nice house and a relatively nice car. That's the choice I made. I have friends who just don't get the car thing and have nicer houses than me whilst earning similar money but drive around in heaps. That's fine and is the reason why all of this is personal choice.
I just think at 21, however, because you're so young the house is a better bet as you've so much time to get the car later. Again though, it's down to choice and level of income.

My advice would be get on the property ladder asap. The reason i say this is my brother is only a year younger than me he went for flash cars, watches, cloths etc. Then later just rented a flat. Were as i penny pinched and got on the property ladder with an older car. He is now struggling to get on the ladder due to the way house prices have gone in the past 10 years he just cannot afford to buy due to the wage/price difference now even with the financial mess englands in ouse prices are still way up, things i cannot see changing and only getting worse.
