Cheers for that Rhyso, right then i'm hoping this doesn't happen to often. Fingers crossed.

sadly it will happen fairly often

get all the pipework checked out and for the sake of a few quid replace ALL the clips  and keep some spare in your glovebox

Mine hasn't done it in a long time !! It has only happened once this year just after my remap so all good :) I would say never put the same clip back on once it has popped off always change it for a new one !! ( i also have about 10 in my glove box)

LOL so I take it I need to invest in some of these clips then.

Where do you guys buy them from? How much are they?

Also I hope this isn;t one of those daft questions that newbies keep asking but, how do you take the plastic cover off the engine to get to this hose?

I took it to the garage and the guy there said I need to change the pipe as there is a metal bit that the clip clips onto and apparently that's broken off so the clip can't go back on properly.

He aslo said it's very common, the garage is a VAG specialist.

I'd check it yourself lets face  it a garage would rather change a pipe than a 30p clip :)

What is all this about mate? I'm new to VW's and not mechanically minded so please explain, also what is the benefit of this mod?

Its easy to fit, you could do it in less than half an hour.

Guide thanks to Rhyso for showing me it - http://www.bazmcc.com/faqs/EGRDelete.html

What you need - http://www.fuelefficientsystems.co.uk/index.php?page=egr-replacement-power-pipe-kits
