Cant get Iphone to Work ....?

Hi All,

First off, just picked up my new golf and I LOVE it, what a fantastic car and improvement over the mark 5.

Anyway, thought I'd connect the Iphone 3Gs into the aux port and realised the cable does not fit ......so, I went into the house and got my phone lead, connected the USB part to the MDI port and other end to the phone. Only problem now is that when I press the 'Media' button on the head unit, that it comes up with ' Device not recognised' or words to that effect.

Can anyone shed any light?

I'm off to Cornwall tomorrow and wanted some decent music to listen too.

Any advice greatfully received.

Hi there,

Yup had the same problem with mine when I first got the car. You need to get the iPod adapter cable from VW. It costs Euro35, I think or alternatively you can ask your dealer for it. Definately not workable with the iPod cables...

you should have got the ipod and usb cables with the car for free ...iphone works well with the proper cable  :smiley:

On the subject of iphones, has anyone seen that app which allows you to unlock, start/stop etc your car from your iphone?

If thats true then I am finally going to give in to the gayphone sorry iphone!!

Its a crazy system. The 2 leads, ipod and usb are included with the car but the garage is supposed to order them individually for you for the car arriving. I never got the ipod cable when I went to collect my car but the salesmen just went to the parts department and lifted one.

Make sure you don't pay as it is all free.
