While reading through the threads I noticed that you guys in the UK don't get ACC and leather as standard on your MK6 GTI's,the GTI in SA costs R317000 which translates into about £23000 and if I'm correct you pay around £25000 here's a list of some of the options that we get as standard:

Adaptive Chassis Control
Vienna Leather sport seats
18" Monza rims
Rain sensors
Lit foot wells
Tinted windows
Heated seats
Those "magazine" nets behind the front seats
Black headlining
GTI carpets
Anti dazzle review mirror
Electric front seats
adjustable front seat armrest
Cruise control
Automatic Climate control
GTI door sills
ESP
EBD
ASR

is it me or are those a lot of options for the price that we pay for it in SA most of those things on a BMW are extras which is making the GTI a much more attractive option for me to get.

I'm surprised to see that ACC is now standard - it wasnt a month or so ago

EDIT: Never mind, think I confusing ACC with DCC.

I think in SA thats a far spec, your standard wage is not as high as ours so its all relative.

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

Well, I think that's a lot of stuff you are getting.

Base price in Finland 39.500€ (about £36.800) with DSG and comes with some basic stuff "only":
17" Monza
RCD310
Lit foot wells
Heated seats
Those "magazine" nets behind the front seats
Anti dazzle review mirror
Rain sensors
adjustable front seat armrest
Automatic Climate control
GTI door sills
ESP
EBD
ASR
(maybe something else also which is included in GTI and can't remember)

Mine was 40.000€/£37.300 after discount incl. 5dr, multifunction wheel, 18" Monza Shadows, Media In, RCD510, tinted back windows, cruise control, light package...

even metallic paint isn't included.  from the golf i got, all i added was th emetallic paint.  no real need to upgrade anything really.  though the stereo is dissaponting with its mere 8 speakers.  my prev mark 5 golf 2.0 tdi had 10.  though with ipod and usb support as standard- very good when you consider audi, merc, etc don't do it as standard.
nice sporty flat bottomed steering wheel.  very tinted rear windows, tinted rear cluster lights, body kit.  no xenon's or leds i'm afraid- thats for the golf r.  mine is the 5 door in blk metallic.  damn ccurbed the monza shadows today aswell.  the standard 17 inch are shockingly bad, its not clear when you buy it that the showroom alloys ain't standard- luckily i read the small print.  the 18 inch alloys does make it amazing, very haed turner if you know what i mean.  no criuse control, no heated or electric seats but they are sport seats.  no adaptive chassis control either.  seats aern't leather but look decent.  rain sensor and auto headlights are standard.  the price with metallic is just over 23 grand, pounds.  4 drinks holders, climate control in rear seats.

This is why Motorpoint can sell us such amazing deals.
You spend £28,000 on a loaded GTI and they source a dozen in SA and offer them at £19,000 with more kit.

its all about cost of living in your country.  the us version of the gti costs $23000 and works out at just over £14,000.
poorer countries, cheaper cars.  i suspect a golf gti in afghanistan would cost about £2000.  i didn't expect leather to come as standard because a golf isn't a premium brand with the likes of porsche, bentleys etc.......  at the end of the day, its a family hot hatch.    an equivalent audi s4, s5 would have leather but the cost of those is far greater.
£23000 for the price i think its very fair.  golf r with prices of 30 grand i would say it should come as standard.
