Noticed a few things after a weeks driving
« on: 10 October 2009, 23:18 »
Static cornering lights: What is the point of these? I know it is meant to illuminate the side of the road you are cornering in but it doesn't light it up that much. In fact all I think it does is make people think you are flashing at them. Or if you pull over to pick someone up they tell you, you only have one light working!! I was in front of a Golf the other night and the lights were on and off more than an on and off thing!!

Fuel Cap: Every car I have had has had some attachment for the fuel cap to attach to while you remove it from the car to fill up. With the Golf it just seems to hang down and rub against the paintwork. Is this correct?

Windscreen wipers: I washed the car today and usually I would lift the wipers to get the glass clean but this can't be done in the Golf!!

Windscreen wipers, if you move the wiper stalk the blades will move to upright position for cleaning  Do you get an extra light come on to the way that your turning?, The Xenons on mine both lights turn with the steering not an extra light comes on

Cheers didn't know that about the wipers.
The fog lights on my GT double as static cornering lights and flash on and off like a Christmas tree when I'm turning obviously to light up the way I am turning into. I presume the lights on the GTi are the same?

My wifes Pug GT was like that you could turn them off via the display (very annoying) Different with Xenons both beams turn when cornering not flash on nd off like a christmas tree

i like the little routine the xenons go through on start up.  does a little up and down and the to the sides and back again.  like a morning stretch!

Yes they look great, level themselves up and then centerise, looks like their dancing or as you say doing a morning stretch, Xenons on the R just went up and down on start up,

Sussed the fuel cap, (its amazing what you find when you read the manual) it clips on to the top of the filler flap.
