Mileage Discrepancy
« on: 08 October 2009, 11:43 »
I just did a search on VOSA. I wasn't aware that you could view all old MOT's using their website until reading through this forum. Now realise that I should have just left well alone!

Date of test:    11/07/2007
Certificate issued (Pass)
Odometer reading:    138,146 Miles
Test number:    334692697166
Test station name:    FORMULA AUTO CENTRES
Test station number:    V100964
Test station telephone number:    02089040305
Test class:    IV
Test expiry date:    23/07/2008
Advisory Notice issued
Offside Inner Front constant velocity joint gaiter deteriorated (2.5.C.1a)

Date of test:    18/01/2008
Certificate issued (Pass)
Odometer reading:    72,860 Miles
Test number:    221508318051
Test station name:    NICHOLAS MOTORS
Test station number:    17213
Test station telephone number:    02088557393
Test class:    IV
Test expiry date:    17/01/2009
Advisory Notice issued
Nearside Front Macpherson strut has slight movement at the upper attachment (2.5.A.1c)

With the most recent MOT pass certificate Issued:

Date of test:    23/04/2009
Certificate issued (Pass)
Odometer reading:    89,566 Miles
Test number:    233843519428
Test station name:    MAYPOLE MOTORS SURBITON LIMITED
Test station number:    17768
Test station telephone number:    020 8399 5544
Test class:    IV
Test expiry date:    22/04/2010
No Advisory Notice issued

I bought the car using RAC's data check, because they are able to see if the cars registered stolen, all documentation for the vehicle is legit, mileage discrepancies.

Nothing untoward showed up, I even have the certificate saying no mileage discrepancy known according to the National Mileage Register.

Yet VOSA state otherwise. My cars odometer when I bought it was showing 71,000 its now showing 91,000 and yet according to the information supplied from VOSA its MOT in 2007 showed 138,000......So should now be reading close to 160,000 My cars covered almost double the mileage its showing. And yet the condition wouldn't state the obvious!

P*ss*d!

How has this gone unnoticed by RAC / National Mileage Register  AND VOSA??????

Are Nicholas motors just a testing station or do they also sell cars?
Looks like a "clocking" to me!

No tyre dealer: http://www.thomsonlocal.com/Nicholas-Motors/225HGKD4/map/companyinfo.html

Not being funny but is any garage / dealer going to risk clocking a car these days.

Wayne you have a great deal of time on your hands!

I just think its very dodgy just by looking at the MOT dates.
Looks like a dealer got it tested for a sale and maybe replaced the clocks at same time!

Oh and if I wanted any dodgy work doing I would go to a tyre place!

Replacing clocks in my eyes is tant amount to clocking!

Yes and no, clocks on mk3 are known to give trouble so maybe they broke and were replaced, I know that the last owner should have said something but if your honest, with selling a car you want as much money as poss.
