In all seriousness, the Golf GTI is the best car in it's class.  Be it the Mk5 or Mk6.  It is a brilliant allrounder.  You can have lots of fun in it and it is a great family car.  I will always give a little nod to drivers of all marks of Golf GTIs and I will never try to burn them off.  TDIs are a different matter though!

Agreed, I get quite a few waves from MK5s and below when out in the MK2. MK6 GTI drivers so far don't wave but I guess many haven't settled into GTI ownership enough to know that other GTI drivers will wave.

I do however like to "burn them off" as you put it, but only when safe to do so and like the look of surprise and respect on their face when I'm still next them by the next set of lights.

nick

Ok.. whats the stats on that mk2 puppy??? Just so i know if I ever come across you at the lights

140ish bhp 1.9 8v and stripped out. MK5/6's only start to pull away above 80mph until then it's even stevens unless they've had a remap.

Nick

I've read some sh!t in my days, but thats just class.

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

i know, they crack me up!  have you noticed as well that they always drive old rust buckets that they rag the fook out of and like to race people with brand new more powerful cars?  grow up people, maybe if you spent less time "racing" and more time working you might be able to buy a new car

if i wasn't actually an adult i would consider racing nick just to put him in his place.  but i'm not a child, i don't have a small thingy, so i don't feel the need to race to make myself feel better about my life and lack of girth.

Hey matchboy, I'm up for trackday when you are. Goodwood circuit ok for you in March? It'll be about £200 for the day and you'll need a spare set of front tyres to get you home afterwards and a helmet. I'll have a video camera set up in the car so I can put it up on the forum afterwards so everyone can see the outcome.

As for being an Adult, I'm 31 and married so I think I qualify. As for thingy size it's not exactly relevant.

nick

P.S I ought to warn you in advance I've beaten MK5 GTI round silverstone so it might not be as easy as you think.
