You cant even notice 2 red stripes compared to one at the front, or two sperate exhausts compared to two together from a distance ? Sorry but you should get an eye test, and really shouldnt be driving.

cool your jets - to most people its just a average family hatch. i'm impressed they even knew it was a golf.

I've been driving Golfs for years, Mk2, Mk3 and Mk5, not all GTIs though, and I have to admit that I find it hard to distinguish a normal Mk6 and Mk5 from a distance.  They kind of just seem the same.  I've yet to see a Mk6 GTI on the roads though.

VW have a winning formula with the Golf and they would be stupid to radically change it's appearance.  It wouldn't be a Golf otherwise.

I'm due an eye test actually!

Like I said, I've not seen a Mk6 Golf GTI in the flesh yet and like I said I find it hard to distinguish a normal Mk6 and Mk5.  Learn to read.

See those pics of a mk6 you've seen ? Honestly dude, and you can hold me to it, no really you can - those red stripes and those exhausts ? They are there on the real life car ! Honestly they are, I didnt believe it at first either, but when I saw it in the flesh I just couldnt believe it.

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

I followed a Mk V up the A702 this morning.  The difference in the exhausts was very noticeable.  (Still likely to be cosmetic though.)

I wonder what the slowcoach in front of the Mk V thought when we both overtook him in tandem?  Like synchronised swimming,it was!

Exciting is not the word, remember the rules though, if you dont know sh!t about the differences between a mk5 and a mk6, one stripe at the front its a mk5, 2 its a mk6. If it overtakes you, two pipes together its a mk5, two pipes seperated its a mk6. Then you can get all giddy and clap and sh!t, but only if your not driving and have parked.

It is purely cosmetic as you said.

What was the mk5 owner like ? Did he want to race, or did you have some respect for each other, or ?

Thanks for putting me straight there.  I'll never get the two mixed up again!

Can't say.  He (or she) was in front in the first place, and I didn't try to change that state of affairs.  It was about 9am for goodness sake, and there was heavy traffic ahead that neither of us was likely to get past on the bends after Lawhead.  We only overtook Mr. Slowcoach because there was a gap, and it would have been a crime not to.

I was still following the Mk V until I turned right into Bush Loan to go to work - he carried on towards Embro.

I've no idea if he even noticed there was a Mk VI behind him.  Me, I thought, there's a guy of taste and discernment, he chose the same car as I did, only 18 months sooner.
