I see though that now you understand the facts you are no longer willing to dispute that the MK6 is not an all new car though so it's not all bad.

Nick

nope, i don't agree with you at all - it's just i'm busy at work right now () so i haven't got time to reply properly!!  i see what you're saying but they are not the same car and that's that!

Good lord we actually agree as indeed it is not the same car, it is an upgraded version of the older car.

A few holes in matchboys main argument:

It has a different interior and engine so its a new car.....what does that make the ED30 or pirelli?

The mk6 is a facelift. The mk6 guys should spend some time on some other MK5 GTI forums, its commonly referred to as the mk5.5.

I think matchboy and kev will be defending it well after the brand new MK7 has been out.

To the OP

Anyway, it looks nice: DRLs from Golf R, sleeker Scirocco-inspired lines, it looks more modern yet still very much a Golf.

DRL's are a legal requirement soon, they will be on all cars; from kia's to ferrari's.

This is true. Brussel's have passed this law. 2010 or 2011, I think.

Remember, Belguim is a country where it's more or less mandatory to always have your lights on.
MKV GTI | Reflex Silver | 5-dr | Anthracite 17" | Manual | Highline MFD | Cruise | Revision 'D' DV | Dirty Pipes |

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?

I was under the impression the ED30/Pirelli only had a bigger turbo

p.s. What does that make the R32???

Interior is different and engine has a few different components. I was merely nitpicking, the R32 is a different car though isnt it? Haldex and a completely different engine?

Therefore i drive a mk5.5 as well, so everyone who gets pissed with me being in here can jog on

Quote by you "It's the same car underneath" for f**k sake, if your not going to agree at least be consistant with the bull that you spout.

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

Well it is the same car underneath but it's not the same car all over, I have been consistant throughout my discussion with you. You on the other hand spout nonsense and ridicule but are unable to deliver any kind of reasoned arguement or fact to back up your side of the discussion. I suspect a career as a labour politition would be a good move for you, Gordon Brown would love your skills.

Like its predecessor, the Mk6 Golf is based on the Volkswagen Group A5 (PQ35) platform. Because the car's architecture and suspension is identical to its predecessor, including the door frames, side glasshouse, roof and wheelbase, there have been questions as to whether the Mk6 is an all-new car, or just a facelift of the Mk5.

Quote
The old Mk5 GTI might have had its thunder stolen by the Focus RS, Megane R26R and perhaps even the Civic Type R, but it was still the best all-round hot hatch you could buy when it recently went off sale. And that – combined with the fact that the new Mk6 is essentially a very thoroughly facelifted Mk5 – goes a long way to explaining why the Mk6 feels so familiar. Volkswagen simply doesn’t want to mess with such a successful recipe.

It means a facelifted car you dumb f**k! I really don't know how I can get this through the plainly mile thick skull that sits on your shoulders.

VW took the MK5 they changed the design of the outer panels, put in a an updated interior and revised parts of the engine. it is more than 50% MK5 and is not an new car. Thereof underneath it's new frilly skirt it's still the same old car.

Imagine a girl, lets call her Karen, she's 5'10", 32C, blonde and amazing in the sack. her rich botfriend pays for to have plastic surgery and a make over. She's now 5'10", 36DD, brunette and still amazing in the sack. She's not a new person though is she? She's still the same old Karen underneath, just tighter, bigger and a bit mor efun in the sack with her improved hooters.
