yeah wrong tryes.......go for 195/45x16 for extra clearance! (or 205's if you really want but you may still need a spacer if lowered)

Hi Mate     I would try 5 mm spacers as I think 10mm would push them onto the arches. I had a similar problem with mine when I bought them. Like yours I am reluctant to buy all new tyres when the wheels have three virtually brand new tyres on. I altered my spring plate with the help of an angle grinder and solved my problem!!!!!!!  Have a look at this on E.Bay -350258031202     Hope this helps

just remember your speedo will be about 7-8% out (and that's an under read!! at 75 you'll actually be doing 81....)
don't be getting points due to the wrong tryes!!

Too right the wheel calculator is brilliant and it is right. I was driving down the lanes last night and coming into the villages the sign was flashing slow down to 40 and my speedo was reading 40. Mine is approx 8 to 10 percent out.     Deano

Going to be easier in the long run to change the tyres.

It would obviously not be recommended mate but I did mine last week and used the angle grinder to shave off about 5mm to clear the tyres. There is about an inch clearance between the edge of the plate and the spring. I tested mine on a yard full of pot holes before going on the road and have had no problems yet whatsoever (touchwood).   Just make sure that there is plenty of rim left to hold the spring but because of the tension in the spring if the spring is over by the rim you have a problem anyway!!!!!!!   Mine is great now and even with me, the missus and the two kids in the back I get no rubbing at all.

It's your decision and I cannot condone doing this but I could not wait until I got spacers but as I said before spacers would have pushed my tyres onto the arches.  Let me know what you decide (out of curiosity) but remember the plates (and rim) are there for a reason.

Hope this helps     Deano
