liquidGOLF for the Mk5
« on: 29 September 2009, 20:53 »
Guys, now we have got the liquidGAUGE working on the MK5 platform, I am about to get the tooling made for the MK5 vent.

Can you guys give me your preference for either the centre or side air vent, the MK4 was done for the side vent but many have asked for the centre vent.

If you haven't seen one before here is the mk4 one and a video of it in my A3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGoONTn1Y_w

It looks like the centre vent comes out fairly easily from this picture, so the insert would be easy to fit.

Definitely the side vent. The middle vent would get more glare and reflection.

Definitely interested in one of these.

The MKIV version in the TT works great. Any ideas on the specifications. Does it have full functionality like the MKIV or less as I heard that there were some issues with getting all the functions to work on the MKV?

How does that work then?

It plugs directly into the OBD port and reads the block logs live and converts them to a graphical or dial representation of the live logs. Basically like the info you get from VAG-COM/VCDS, but in a more user friendly package

Can the grille mounting be manufactured so that it still allows air around the gauge, for a more OEM look. I think I'd prefer this to the black plastic look as per the mk4 picture??

Tricky as there is not much space left around the pcb to allow for vents.

I understand, maybe I should try it myself as I have a spare vent somewhere.

On a different note, what restrictions are there wrt the upper limit of MAF readings affecting things like torque and power graphs? Is anything else affected?

Do we know what the max MAF reading is via VAG-COM for the MkV GTI (esp. ED30)?

I know on my RS4 it was 364.08 g/s - mine went flatline at this value after 6300 rpms.

Saw one of these in Bens (R-Techs) MK4 and its a VERY cool little toy.

What are the prices looking at for the MK5?  I assume we will have all the same features as the A3 video? Looks very cool in the A3 imo.
