yeah found that vwvortex thread and looked like a nice easy job, is it true that you can hairline fracture the tb if you go at it too long because it gets hot?

poss but i doubt its easy to get it that hot, just dont use blunt/worn cutters/sanders for ages+ shouldnt get hot atall, i left the 4(ish) mm around butterfly so as not to affect idle but brought the humps+ sharp edges right down, havent bothered polishing it just left with a fine sanded finish for now

Save yourself the agro and use carbide burr's to remove the material.
cuts like a knife through butter sh!t hot finish no heating of surface and no abrasive material everywhere to clean up/out of TB.
Takes less than a couple of minutes but a steady hand is required :smiley:

Is this actually called porting?

As i believe porting to be when u make the ports in the head bigger?

Isnt this a "flowed" tb?

Or am i barking up the wrong tree? lol

You are probably right, its a generic term used in error me thinks
By doing this you are improving the flow and increasing the area.
But when you enlarge and port a valve seat you are doing a similar action
I suppose the porting is the re shaping of the area around the valve seat
which improves the flow of pre and post combustion vapour/gas  :undecided:
I use the term for matching gaskets and flanges removing webs improving lead ins/outs throttle bodies etc etc

In essence yeah you are right :smiley:
