unfortunately it doesnt work that way, the dealers just sell them on it when it arrives...

I saw a white gtd 5dr today in the flesh with the stanard 17's, I aint cancelling either....
waiting is sooo boring!

Update to my order - car had landed in the uk now, and all being well should be assigned a registration number on Monday, hoping to pick it up a week on Saturday

This wait is killing me.  At least if i had a set in stone date i would know when it may happen!
It would be nice to know were i stand with the VAT, I have now sent two emails to my dealer both unanswered

How’s this possible? You ordered your car just 4 days before my dad and your cars built and in the country already?? And we've been told it’s unconfirmed and that we won't see the car till gone Feb, and possibly even longer.

I would assume so, there's people that ordered before me that gave a later build week too. Guess it could also have something to do with the options you've specc'ed?

I ordered my car from our local dealer on 23rd May, I put down £1000 to secure the car I wanted and was told at the time that if I had not ordered that day I would not be guaranteed a car as they only had 3 on allocation.

I had no problems with the options I added which included a sunroof and xenons which some people seem to think has added to their delays.

I do think the delays are down to the number of cars being allocated to the dealerships and take up of cars in certain areas.  Looking on some websites there seem to be quite a few cars around but at astronomical prices.

The car will be well worth the wait that some of you guys are having to put up with just hang in there and don't give up.

I don't think it has anything to do with allocation myself. I think the blaim lies at VW.de door.
Some people simply hit luckie and there build week was never moved, others thanks to the organisation at the factory  due i was told to introducing of new engines in the model range and also selling in new markets our build slots have moved a few times adding to our delays.
I also think number of options or what the options are have little to do with it if that was the case my low spec car would have been built first
