Hi all!

Been lurking for a while, well since about August anyway, when I ordered mine.  So heres my first post!

I've been a long time GTI nut since 1993 when I picked up a Black Mk1 '79 V plate 1600 4 speed for £600 off a mate.  That first GTI hooked me in and I've loved GTI's ever since.  Over the years I've had (including that first) - 3xMk1's, 3xMk2's, 2xMk3's (one of those was a VR6 Highline) and my current Mk4 2.0 GTI.  I've also had a Scirroco GTX and a Golf Diesel van!

I ordered a new Mk6 from Haywards Heath Caffyns on the 7th August this year, I specced it right up:
3 door
DSG
ACC
Cruise
Deep black pearl
Xenons
18"
Leather
Sunroof
Winter pack
Luxury pack
Rear view cam
RCD510

Initially I was told there would be a 12 week delivery time, so I should have been driving it by now! :(  But using this site as my info backup and to pester my dealer, I've made sure that he knows that I know whats going on with new car orders from VW.  After a couple of weeks I got an unconfirmed build week of 46, then 45, then 51.  I rang today to see what the update was and it was bad news, shifted right back to week 02, and unconfirmed!  I'm looking at perhaps a February delivery...

Still, when it arrives I'm sure the wait will be worth it.

Cheers
Spooner.

The Mk5/6 is best without any options, except the essential DSG.

Thanks

7th August ........... After a couple of weeks I got an unconfirmed build week of 46, then 45, then 51.  I rang today back to week 02,
Thats moved about abit!

The more i think the more i hope mine moves later again (if VW will cover the vat that is). That way i get more of winter over with before the new car gets here.

I also have a little worries about cars been built in the last week of December before they brake up for Christmas and the cars built the first week or so after the new year as the workers may not be at the top of there game for reasons im sure we all know.

Anyone asked about the VAT and if the 'offer' will include us August orders too. :undecided:

How do you work that one out then?

F**k man that's a hell of a lot of opetions, it's gonna cost you a mint for sure.  Do you really need all those?  Will be a nice motor but!!

Well I had the opportunity to order a new one, so thought I would spec it with what I wanted.  All the GTI's I've had over the years have had varying options, and i really liked what was additional on my old VR6.  I miss my heated leathers, sunroof etc that seemed standard on that one.  My current Mk4 only seems to have a sunroof as an extra, doesn't even have Climatronic!

Thats moved about abit!

My dealer has assured me that the price quoted in August is what I'm paying on delivery day.  Check with yours mate.  I have to say a big thumbs up to mine, he's been stellar with his updates.

At least I can ogle what my new one will look like whilst playing Forza3 and using photo mode!

Thanks i will try.
I do know VW said they would honour orders before the september price rise at the old price but that VAT is added at time of invoice that would be a problem.
I know quite a few dealers were looking into the VAT problem at the time i ordered as they were taking orders for sciroccos with jan delivery time back then.
