Hopefully I'm wrong Snoopy but the same dealer that told me about VW taking the hit for the VW increase way back in September also told me that in general if your car has a build week of 49 or greater then it won't be completed until after the New Year!!
Great a car built after the christmas party that they will not remember were they got upto after new year and miss stuff or just throw it together. Typical.
I would rather have week1 or 2 Im actually not that bothered if they want to start it after new year if i don't get charged anymore money. Its not like im going to have any decent weather to enjoy it. But then its getting near March by that time. Not going to be a new reg long at this rate.

snoopy - hopefully they change the BW and you get it sooner and before xmas!
It was actually one of the conditions i laid down before i signed the order. They were a) the order would be before the price rise and at the old price, b) It arrived before the end of the year to avoid the tax rise.

Out of curiosity how late can you change your spec ie add something? as at this rate i may change my mind.

Until the build week has been confirmed.
Once it has been confirmed, parts are then whinging there way to the production line so you can't add anything else not unless you cancel and start again. So in effect it is a good way to know you have a confirmed build date.

@rolfe........sorry but if you mention that (apparently exceptional) fact again I may start to get annoyed. Well done, but this thread isn't a place to crow about your car, its for the rest of us to work out when we might finally get ours

Sorry, sorry, it's just the coincidence of the same-day order that gets me.

I have an update on my mid-August order.

Have been told it is unlikely to be built this year. The salesman said they build GTIs' in batches of 10-20 and that VW are favouring their home market at the moment who therefore get theirs delivered first. He could see my order but couldn't explain why things hadn't progressed as he'd expected.

Needless to say I was not impressed so am expecting a call back from VW tomorrow. They cautiously said there should be a financial discount as a result and that I may be able to make the use of one of the cars until mine turns up. If this works out, that seems a fair enough compromise to me until mine turns up I guess...

Any suggestions as to what I should ask for when we're on the negotiation table would be much appreciated guys

yeah they guaranteed me the old price and that they would take the hit on any increase in VAT when i ordered back on 17/08.

my dealer said if i wanted to change the spec, they can do it, but it would then have to go through the system and wouldnt be able to say whether it would get delayed further, but it seems pretty risky - so it all depends how bad you want your additional add-ons!

so it seems some from a few of us with BW48 have got confirmed status, and others have been delayed a few more weeks, its all so random and pot luck with allocations and with different dealers!

Ask him for the VW commision number and if you phone customer care they will let you know what build week its currently allocated.

offer of the use of the car seems good to me and financial i guess the question is by what amount. Whatelse i guess thats down to the dealer. Not sure if/what VW may offer, if anything.
