So even when it's confirmed it's not set in stone.  What's the point.

Just sold an S5 - previously mkV R32 DSG Metallic Grey with RNS 510 (thanks to MortyGT140)

Got a call from my dealer. The car is currently on a boat on its way to England. It will take another 2-3 days for it to be transported over to my local dealer. I might able to pick up the car by the end of next week.
Hope they got the colour and spec right! Can't imagine if I reject the car how long I have to wait for another one!!

Mine might be on the same boat, was told a few days ago it was waiting at the docks.

NB I hope they are tied down well, It's a bit rough here in the North Sea at the moment.
I am more worry about pirates!
Been to Youtube a few times looking at Gti with the same colour as mine just to wet my appetite!

Was it the dealer who told you it was confirmed or VW customer service. Was this confirmed within 4 to 5 weeks of its confirmed build week date if not its not officially factory confirmed.
Was the spec the reason it changed shortage of parts etc. Sunroof and Xenons have earlier in the year cause delays.

Ask your dealer for the VW commision number, then you can phone vw customer service and find out the real story of whats been going on. If he does not give you the number then i would walk.

Only spoke to dealer. They gave me the factory order number at the end of July so I could speak to customer services but I never did. Got told wk38 by end of July, rang on Sept 11th and they said it had changed and was confirmed for wk 40, rang Oct 2nd and got told it had changed to wk 43 didn't ask why. Will also add that when we were deciding between this and a Focus RS the 6 week delivery time the dealer quoted us at the beginning of July swung the decision abit....... Now when we order a R in about 18 months we'll be visiting a different dealer... And perhaps do a little more research  LOL

What a pile of crud. All this talk got me calling customer services just to make sure that my confirmed build week 47 was still good. Apparently now it hasn't got a confirmed build at all. All they can say is that I'll have the car by Xmas. I will never be buying another new factory ordered VW. By the time I get it the Mk7s will be available to order!!

Just FYI for people new to VW group, of the ones i have factory ordered in the past SEAT,Skoda,VW & Audi, factory orders have always been between 10 and 12 weeks.
Unless
a) Your unluckie to hit the factory shut down period then its abit longer for that reason.
b) Theres a parts shortage.
c) Your dealer already has a car in the system and changes the spec to suit a customer order. So the time is much shorter.
d) The dealer finds a cancelled order or a car in the system in stock somewere to the spec you ordered he can get sooner.

i think you might need a tissue.  i got mine within 2 weeks from my order in august- no joke.  i couldnt wait 45 wks!  afterall its exactly what i wanted anyways.  if i was using it as my main car i'd probably get it specced up a bit more, like everyone else here.   dont blame vw- they aint some cheap mass production co like nissan who make cars every second.  vw's biggest sellers is the basic golf- they aint going to make millions of gti's.  at least you'd know it was built well.  i wouldnt be so happy with a 5 minute (guess) car like they do at nissan.  service aint so good- it depends on the dealer.  they used to give bouquet of flowers few yrs ago, now you get nothing- not even a full tank unless you're haggle.  btw usually next mark ie, mark 7 usually comes every 6 yrs or so...
