body work gti

hi all, have just started doing the body work on my gti, and have decided to remove all the body trim on the car as any one done this? have been told u filler in the gaps wear the trim was, (a lot of filler needed then nor not???) thanks for any info sent back, steveo.

Buy a bentley manual, much more detailed than a haynes.

had a look at them, trying to get hold one for a gti is like pulling teeth

You need GL or some VR6 door strips mate!

Late VR trims.

But yes you can remove the arches, then fit the non arch side trims, and also remove the side skirts.

Using filler to smooth the door trims would be terrible, needs to be welded etc.

+1 you will the doors welded over, filler will fall out.

As above. Filler will crack and fall out. Filling with primer (has been done before) will likely crack. Fiber glass will crack.

Or so me mate tells me!
