anyone use minidisc?

does anyone still use minidisc? it was a great invention for car audio due to the small size of the disc but it never quite took off enough. anyway, i have what was a really good panasonic car head unit, a home full-size sony recording deck and a big pile of minidiscs. is this kit worth anything anymore? i suppose ebay it is the answer...

I think you may find some of these these in the Betamax bin at your local car-boot sale.
I am just about to acquire one of these by default. Haven't seen one around for quite some time though.

I've got a Sony MD headunit in mum's micra. I loaned (probably permanantly) the portable recorder to a friend as she does a lot of walking so puts all her tunes on that.

they were good in the car as you could pop 10 discs in that little hole above the ashtray in the mk2.

mp3 CD just beats it on every aspect now though.

still alot of people around use MD but the newer long play version is more popular. like dizzie said ipods and mp3 headunits kinda taking over but sure still something for them.

sony have stopped running the md format while they were developing their new md format which is better.

it runs a form of mp3 on a minidisc and the top ones hold about 1gb of data, they have only been out a few weeks and the in-car version is not availabe yet but a guy at sony said it was comming out.
i use the old minidisc format at the momene with 10 cd changer, and my latest aquisition is a video jukebox it has a 30gb hard drive and plays all video and sound formats, it can be used in the car via rca or it broadcasts on fm radio and i can tune my car radio into its broadcast and listen on the car radio

yep so do i. i spent so much money on all the conponents when it came out im getting my moneys worth sony are twits for not letting anyone use the lazer in their headunits hence the extinction of md headunits

think if they brought out tunes on md in the 1st place they whoud of taken off more,
plus people dident want the extra hassel of bying a recorder ect n going byin a cd then having 2 put it on md,
lot less hassel to go by a cd, jump in the car slip it in the cd player, then go 4 a cruise

when MP3 headunits came out MD had no advantages really.

The convience of just burning off 10 albums in 7 mins is much more appealing than waiting 80mins for 1 to copy onto a MD.

Plus the CD headunits were much better than the MD ones.

I have got a mini disc built into my mini system hi-fi but never use it, was looking at mp3 car cd units yesterday and they have come down to just under ?75 so think they are a more worth while investment
